Best Boardwalks in Jersey

Everyone from Jersey knows beach days are the best days. Once you’re done with the sun and the sand, you can still enjoy the views and salty air with the surrounding boardwalks. Go shopping, ride rides, and eat all of the delicious food by the oceanside. The boardwalks are made for family fun, and are entertaining for all ages. Find the perfect beach for you, and take advantage of the boardwalk perks that come with it.

  1. Ocean City: Ocean City is a great family-friendly boardwalk. The city is a dry town, which helps keep the area’s crime rate down. There aren’t late night crowds that make you feel unsafe walking around on the boardwalk. You’ll also be impressed with the amount of things to do. There are lots of attractions, shops, and sites to see along the boardwalk. There’s something for every age at Ocean City New Jersey. Gillian’s Wonderland is perfect for younger kids, and Pirate’s Cove is geared towards teens and up. One of the crowd favorites are the fudge and candy shops. You can see the chocolatiers creating delicious treats to eat before you buy tons of sweets.
  2. Point Pleasant Boardwalk: Point Pleasant Beach is a great family-friendly area. The beach is well maintained and the boardwalk is clean and in good repair. You can buy beach passes throughout the day up until 5:30pm. In the middle of the boardwalk, there’s the Jenkinson’s section. This is the hotbed of all of the fun stuff. There’s an aquarium, kids rides, and treats to eat. Be sure to stay until it’s dark on Thursdays – there’s a fun fireworks display! As you walk along, you can find mini golf, and other rides to hop on. Have some cash on hand with you if you’d like to ride the rides. Parking can be a bit expensive for the day, but it’s well worth it when you get to make memories with the family.
  3. Atlantic City: Atlantic City is well known for its thrills, nightlife, and gambling. The boardwalk is part of that experience. There’s fun things to do like the Ripley’s Believe It Not Not Museum where you can see oddities of all kinds. There’s the Golden Nugget which has two venues so you can see plenty of shows, and, of course, there’s plenty of shops. If you’re looking for the tamer side of Atlantic City, then you can visit the Absecon Lighthouse. It’s one of the oldest lighthouses in the country, and it is the tallest in NJ. You’ll have tons of restaurants to choose from with plenty of drink options.
  4. Seaside Heights: Seaside Heights is another great family-friendly area. As you make your way along the boardwalk, you’ll want to stop off at Casino Pier. It’s like having a carnival overlooking the ocean. That’s where you’ll find all of the rides and finger foods to enjoy. The most famous ride is the Sky Ride. It’s like a ski lift that takes you along the coast for a bird’s eye view of the beach. If you’re a thrill seeker, then you’ll love the skycoaster. You’ll get the experience of soaring through the air like Superman. There’s even an antique carousel. The entire family will love it!

Whichever boardwalk you decide to visit, don’t forget to bring your sunscreen, a change of clothes, and some pocket change so you can get the full boardwalk experience when you make your summer trip to the beach. No matter where you land on the Jersey shore, you’ll be sure to find a fantastic boardwalk to go with it.
